Dr Alex Jay is a locally-trained urologist who graduated from the University of Western Australia before returning to Adelaide to complete surgical training. After receiving a fellowship in urology, Dr Jay undertook post-fellowship training in urological cancer management at Imperial College London and the Royal Marsden Hospital, also in London, which included training in advanced open and laparoscopic procedures and robotic surgery.

Dr Alex Jay consults at the Tennyson Centre (Kurralta Park), Flinders Private Hospital and Bridge Clinic. He operates at Ashford Hospital, Flinders Private Hospital, Murray Bridge Hospital and Noarlunga Hospital.

He is a clinical lecturer at Flinders University, a contributor of surgical outcomes data to the South Australian Prostate Cancer Clinical Outcomes Collaborative, as well as a member of the research committee. Dr Jay is a founding member of the research committee for the Flinders Kidney Health Registry. He regularly attends multi-disciplinary team meetings in which complex cancer cases are discussed.
