Dr Kym Horsell studied medicine at the University of Adelaide and completed his urological surgery training in Sydney and Adelaide. Travelling to Bristol, in the UK, for a fellowship under Professor Paul Abrams, Dr Horsell gained further experience in complex pelvic surgery and the treatment of male and female incontinence.

Dr Kym Horsell consults and operates in Adelaide and Darwin and through an outreach service in Alice Springs. He has an interest in male health issues, particularly those affecting men in remote and regional areas.

He has been involved with training urological surgeons and has previously served on the Board of Training and Education. Dr Horsell is currently an examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He serves on the steering committee of the SA Prostate Cancer Clinical Outcomes Collaboration, on the Medical Advisory Committees of Ashford Private Hospital and the Tennyson Day Hospital, as well as on the Medical Advisory Panel for Medical Insurance Group of Australia.

Special interests include:

  • Diagnosis and management of early and advanced prostate cancer,
  • Treatment of incontinence after prostate cancer treatment,
  • Minimally invasive prostate treatments – Urolift, ReZUM and laser prostate surgery,
  • Bladder cancer management and surveillance,
  • Laser treatment of kidney stones, and
  • Vasectomy and Microsurgical Vasectomy Reversal.
