Dr Sophie Plagakis is an Adelaide-born and trained urologist and urological surgeon. She treats general and oncological urological conditions, including prostate disease and kidney stones. She manages the investigation of functional voiding disorders and incontinence in male and female patients. 

Dr Plagakis is a graduate of the University of Adelaide and trained at all the major teaching hospitals in South Australia as a junior doctor and advanced surgical trainee. She completed her fellowship training at the Concord Repatriation and Prince Alfred Hospitals in Sydney. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Health through Monash University and advocates for system reform to improve patient safety and clinical outcomes.

Dr Sophie Plagakis consults at the Tennyson Centre (Kurralta Park) and the Seaford Day Surgery. She operates at the Tennyson Day Hospital, Ashford Hospital, Flinders Private Hospital, and Seaford Day Surgery.

Dr Plagakis is a staff specialist at the Flinders Medical Centre and Noarlunga Health Service, is on the Therapeutic Guidelines Committee for Kidney and Urinary Guidelines and recently completed a term in the Statewide Surgical and Perioperative Care Clinical Network Steering Committee for SA Health. She regularly contributes to local and national urological meetings. 

Dr Plagakis is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, the Urological Society of Australian and New Zealand, the European Association of Urology, the Society of Urodynamics Female Pelvic Medicine and Urogenital Reconstruction, the Continence Foundation of Australia and the International Continence Society. Her research interests include bladder and prostate cancer, functional urology and bladder pain.
